About this item specifically~
Here is a once-in-a-lifetime find...a 1.28 crystal fossil opal from Coober Pedy...This stone was purchased from the Aussie miner/cutter that had a setting made for it and wear as his personal ring. We bought it from him without the setting as a loose stone. It is the sort of stone that is used in an inlay or bezel setting so the back of it has a thin layer of black epoxy that makes it scream and shout. It is NOT a doublet and the epoxy will come off but the colors may not be quite as intense. We have left the stone as it is because when it is set, the proud new owner will want it with the style of setting that would not show the fact that it is a crystal opal and not a true N1 as it appears. It is also perfect for a man's ring and from any observer, this stone will look like a $5000-$8000 or more N1 supergem. It is probably the most neon colored piece we have that is as perfectly suited for a men's ring. The colors in it are very bright neon metallic with screaming pink-orange-red in a flashy pattern. It has a very slightly curved face that will make the stone have a bit of a domed look when set and the slight curve makes the colorplay specific to this stone show magnificently when it moves from side to side in a ring setting. It is the kind of stone that is so neon colored that the red is almost a Pepto-Bismol red in some lighting. If you don't like extremely flashy stones that everyone will ask about, this is not the one...it is not subtle at all. It weighs about 1.28 carats and measures about 11mmx10mmx2mm.
