Description

This is a wonderful picture stone from Lightning Ridge.

A sailboat catching sunset colors in its sail. The colors roll and change as the opal moves, just like a little boat on the waves.

The background is pure N1 Black Opal and the picture is made by two bits of precious opal.

A small bit of white base makes the sailboat body, skimming across the waves of some long dry Australian sea.

The sail is a perfect curve of precious crystal opal, catching the solar wind, rolling red and orange and every color of the spectrum and filling the sail shape with a rolling rainbow of precious play of fiery color.

This is a "one in ten million" opal. A perfect picture of an iconic song title "Red Sails in the Sunset," one of my Mom's old favorites. I wish she could see this opal.

How do you price such a natural wonder? It is a pure black N1 base color, and the crystal opal is full spectrum rolling flash. That rates it at the top of opal value charts. And the perfect picture of a sailboat skimming across the water? Priceless and impossible to duplicate. Rare doesn't even begin to describe the uniqueness of this opal. So make me an offer!

This is a natural occurance of full spectrum crystal opal in a pure black base. It is not constructed or inlaid or made by any artificial means. This is a natural solid opal ready to set into a unique jewelry piece which will be cherished for many generations. Your great-grandchildren will fight over this for generations.

1.14 carats of N1 Black Opal
8.5 mm x 8.5 mm x 3 mm thick

This is perfect for a ring setting. The face is flat for protection and the play of color is a lively dance of rainbow colors rolling up and down the "sail." This will make a brilliant eye-catching display, rolling and dancing with any movement of the opal.

It would also make a beautiful and mysterious pendant. The color in the sailboat and sail display very well in the upright pendant position.
