Fabulous investment gem, this opal is unmatched for beauty, brightness and color play. Solid opal from Lambina cut into a very pleasing oval shape. 9.03 carats in weight. Not calibrated to standard size, this opal is 26 mm by 12.2 mm and is 4.5 mm thick. It is a very solid stone, ready to set. A medium dome shows the opal fire very brightly. Color is good even in low light. No flaws or inclusions. Well cut with mirror finish. 

 Lots of red, orange, yellow, blue and green, the fire displays as rolling broadflash and large 3-D flakes of color. This is one for the ages, generations of your family will cherish this exceptional opal. 

Richard Wise (author of Secrets of the Gem Trade) informally appraised it in person at $125 per carat as rough field price, and suggested twice that for wholesale and twice again for a cut stone, retail, set in 18K. That's $500 per carat, and that's a few years ago, when mining was still active in Lambina fields.

Hi there Brock,

This is just a heads-up about my latest $1NR auction. It's up for three days and it's a stone you had been interested in, I think. Take a look please, and pick it up cheap if you can. It was a bargain at $99, unbelieveable at $69 and now it's gonna sell for whatever this marketplace bids it up to.

Based on my last few NR's, it will go cheap. It's a bargain at $100, but it won't reach that, I'm sure. I just got a new camera and as soon as I learn how to use it effectively, you'll see some better pictures in my auctions. Meanwhile, the poor photos of this opal will have to do.
