PERUVIAN BLUE OPAL BEAD

NATURAL UNTREATED BEAD

Top grade quality

This is a Peru blue opal that has been drilled and cut in tear drop shape.The drilled hole is small app 1 mm.The stone is very well polished so you will see some reflection from the light we use. Ideal for the centre piece of a necklace.

Peruvian opals range in color from very blue to green / blue to an aqua colored blue.

Peruvian blue opal is relatively rare and is only found in the Andes mountains near San Patricio, Peru. It is a very translucent stone with color similar to the Caribbean Sea. Depending on how the stone is cut it can be clear, scenic (showing varying degrees of color) or dendritic which has black fern like inclusions.

This is the national stone of Peru. Dyed stones are quite common and sell a lot cheaper.
