Description
Welo Top Grade Cutters
10.5 carats, measuring 22 mm x 14 mm x 12 mm
This piece is white crystal with a broadflash color display. Red is the most visible color in the available windows. A close inspection shows green blue and yellow as well. All these colors will shine clear and bright when the opal is cut from the rough.
I have candled this rough and cannot see any evidence of cracking and can predict that the rough will yield one large stone of great beauty. It is a good shape for high yield as a pear or oval and will cut a high dome cabochon.
Welo opal has hydrophane properties and will absorb water. Wetting it will cause it to gain weight and will affect both the body tone and color display. This rough has not been watered for weight or extra brightness, No treatments of any kind. Pictures are all taken dry, mostly in sunshine or bright overcast.
