Welo Top Grade Cutters
9.24 carats, measuring 15 mm x 15 mm x 10
This piece is part of a very special parcel of top grade brightness, rare body tone, highly geometric patterned opal rough. All of this group are grades above most of what is offered on the internet anywhere today.
This piece has a solid chunky body with great color in a rare and beautiful body tone. Lots of RED and every other color dance in this opal. It looks like it could be a barred pattern. The body tone is very light cafe-au-lait, a pale tan body which really shows off the play of color. This is an outstanding piece of opal.
Welo opal has hydrophane properties and will absorb water. Wetting it will cause it to gain weight and will affect both the body tone and color display. This rough has not been watered for weight or extra brightness. No treatments of any kind. Pictures are all taken dry, mostly in sunshine or bright overcast. It's been a rainy summer.
