RECENTLY A FRIEND OF MINE RETURNED FROM ETHIOPIA WITH A LARGE PARCEL OF ROUGH OPALS WHICH HE ALLOWED ME TO HAVE THE FIRST PICK. MOST OF THEM ARE IN THIS STORE -QUALITY OPALS.THIS IS A NODULE AS BEEN RUBBED DOWN TO EXPOSE THE COLOUR AND POLISHED-VERY FEW NODULES HAVE COLOUR IN THEM.THIS MATERIAL IS VOLCANIC IN ORIGIN WITH SOME BRILLIANT ELECTRIC COLOURS AND UNUSUAL PATTERNS. THIS SPECIMEN HAS BEEN TREATED WITH OPTICON TO STABILIZE IT. WE STORE IT IN PARAFFIN OIL WHICH ALSO SEEMS TO HELP STABILIZE IT.
