SOLID NATURAL BLACK OPAL FROM FAMOUS LIGHTNING RIDGE OPAL MINES.  THIS OPAL WAS JUST MINED FROM AN OLD MINE THAT WAS CLOSED YEARS AGO. MY NEPHEW TOOK OUT THE PILLARS THAT WERE SUPPORTING THE ROOF OF THE MINE TO GET THIS OPAL. THE PILLARS ARE APPROX 3 FOOT WIDE SO WHEN THE EARTH WAS TAKEN OUT IT MADE A BALLROOM UNDERGROUND. IT WAS A DANGEROUS AND RISKY JOB JUST TO GET TO THE OPALS. BUT THE QUALITY OF THE OPALS ARE GOOD, AND THEREFORE, WORTH THE RISK.  WEIGHS 0.50 CTS AND IS 1 MM THICK. GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY OUR OPALS. NOTE 6 MM IS 1/4 INCH.  Our business started in 1991, we specialize in Black Opal from Lightning Ridge. In 1996 we introduced Jewelry into our range and sourced opals from miners working in Cooper pedy and Queensland boulder fields.
