About this item specifically~

This is a beautiful, fancy colored, large semiblack opal from Lightning Ridge, Australia. The stone is alight with near 5/5 brightness large patches of rolling and flashing rare colors that give it a beautiful patchwork look and assures its place in a magnificent pendant. The gem has a medium-grey n4-n5 base that allows the beautiful colors to display boldly and beautifully as the opal is moved. Regardless of the angle, some part of this stone is showing extremely beautiful and bright neon metallic color that can easily be seen from several feet away. It is so bright that it reflects nearly all of the light that hits it in a mirror-like fashion and if that brilliance were completely non-directional, this stone would be priceless. It certainly fits the more conservative Paul Downing classification for brightness that has seemingly become grossly abused in the last few years. This opal will literally hurt your eyes in bright lighting as it is so brilliant and flashy. There are no dead spots and no flaws in this perfectly cut and finished gem. The photos and video clips of this opal don't show its true beauty, unfortunately. It is much nicer in the hand and shows proudly in even the lowest light. It is an investment quality stone that would be the delight of any collector or designer. The opal weighs about 6.91 carats and measures about 24.5mm x 13mm x 2.2mm aprx.
