Description: "Whitehorse" is the common term used by opal miners, for this natural mineral deposit. It is found mainly in the nobby opal fields, in the opal bearing levels. Some miners get real happy!! to come across "whitehorse" because it is generally an indication that gem opal may be nearby. It has a high concentration of silica some gypsom, porcelain and microscopic particles of carbon.
On very few rare occassions opal color can be found within the whitehorse.
THIS SPECIMEN IS ONE OF THOSE RARE PIECES THAT HAS FORMED THE OPAL, IT HAS SLIGHT GREEN COLOR.
